Artist Statement
My interest lies in understanding perceived notions of material and process embedded in the American cultural discourse. I am Intrigued by the relationships between value, gender, material, and process; I utilize my skills as a maker to critique these systems. Through research and observation I gain insight into regional and universal systems and signifiers that often transcend time and place. The objects conceived from these contemplations engage images, materials, and processes which act to enforce and expose stereotypes. Ultimately my art works provoke the notion of convention.
